Orange County Heart Walk Raises More Than $1.8 Million to Fight Heart Disease and Stroke

Funds Raised Will Be Used For Research and to Fund Programs

The Orange County American Heart Association hosted the Orange County Heart & Stroke Walk/Run on Saturday, March 5, 2016. This year’s theme was Heart & Stroke Heroes. The Heart Walk raised more than $1.8 Million to fight heart disease and stroke. Top sponsors included Los Alamitos Medical Center, Fountain Valley Regional, Placentia-Linda Hospital, SASCO and McCarthy. The annual Orange County Heart & Stroke Walk raises funds for research, and initiatives that promote prevention, treatment, community outreach and better patient care in areas related to heart attack, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases. The American Heart Association is dedicated to building healthier lives free of heart disease and stroke. Heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases claim more than 831,000 lives every year. The AHA’s goal is to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent while reducing deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent by 2020.
