Raising Glasses in the Name of a Cure for Cystic Fibrosis at the Inaugural Beach, Brews and BBQ Fundraiser
Craft Beer, Wine and BBQ Unify Supporters for Good Cause
Craft beer and charity will combine for an afternoon of delicious food, excellent wines and hot craft beer labels for the inaugural Beach, Brews and BBQ fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 26th from 2pm – 6pm for the Orange County Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Beach, Brews and BBQ is sponsored by BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse, Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que, STACKED: Food Well Built and breweries including Heineken, Hangar 24, Shock-Top, Ballast Point and more, will take place at the Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort in Newport Beach.
“The growing popularity of craft beer is a great excuse to do something good for those who are battling cystic fibrosis,” said Dave Youngberg, event co-chair with Kelly Drew.
Cystic fibrosis affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections, and obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food. The average lifespan of someone with cystic fibrosis is 37 years old.
