What: Through a generous community grant from Edwards Lifesciences, part of their Every Heart Beat Matters campaign, Hoag, Share Our Selves Community Health Center, SOS-El Sol Wellness Center and Edwards Lifesciences will be hosting a free Heart Screening event on Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3 at the City of Santa Ana’s Cinco de Mayo Weekend Festival, in downtown Santa Ana.

Three heart screenings will be offered during the weekend – Blood Pressure, Body Mass Index (BMI) and a Heart Sound Evaluation read by a Hoag physician. Attendees who complete the screening will receive a free goody bag, which includes a grocery gift card. Those marked for follow-up will be encouraged to schedule a free appointment with Share Our Selves Community Health Center in Costa Mesa or SOS-El Sol Wellness Center in Santa Ana.

Why: With cardiovascular disease being the leading cause of death in the United States, Hoag and Edwards Lifesciences hope to raise awareness for the disease and inspire the community to lead a heart healthy lifestyle.

When: Saturday, May 2 from 12 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Sunday, May 3 from 10:30 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Where: Downtown Santa Ana, Santa Ana Community Events
