Scholarship Recipients To Perform at Orange Coast College Piano Recital

Orange Coast College Piano Scholarship Winners will perform Wednesday, May 4 at 7:30 pm in the OCC Recital Hall.

Orange Coast College Piano Scholarship Winners will perform Wednesday, May 4 at 7:30 pm in the OCC Recital Hall. The concert will feature classical masterworks, performed in an intimate concert setting on the College’s beautiful Steinway Concert Grand Piano.

Scholarships are awarded each fall and spring to outstanding pianists in the OCC Piano Program; piano scholarship recipients receive full tuition for weekly private piano instruction with the College’s distinguished piano faculty.

Several of the performers will be graduating this spring and transferring to a four-year program in the fall, including Michelle Nguyen, a piano scholarship student majoring in composition. This spring, Nguyen received an early acceptance notification from the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston.

Other graduating scholarship recipients who will perform are Tiffany Ta, president of OCC’s Pi Rho Sigma chapter of the National Music Honor Society who will major in piano performance at California State University this fall, and Dimitris Tzoytzoyrakos, an active composer, director, actor and filmmaker who will continue his studies at the University of Southern California in the fall.

“We are delighted to provide scholarships to these talented students,” says Dr. Brian Gould, Director of the OCC Piano Program. “This performance is to honor these outstanding young musicians, and to celebrate our wonderful community of music-lovers for their encouragement and support.”
