Transient Arrested In Homicide Investigation: Costa Mesa Police
He reported finding a woman's body in Talbert Regional Park, and now he is accused of killing her.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — A transient was taken into custody Thursday and facing a possible murder charge after he called Costa Mesa police and reported that he had found a woman's body, authorities said.
Daniel Correa, 24, a transient from Santa Ana, called police about 7:10 a.m. Wednesday "advising he had found a female's body in the Talbert Regional Park area," Costa Mesa police said in a statement.
"Police officers and detectives responded to the Talbert Nature Preserve, at 1299 Victoria St., and located the male caller -- identified as Correa -- as well as the female's body in the brush area nearby," police said.

The name of the 29-year-old woman was withheld, pending family notification. Police said she was a transient from Massachusetts.
"The apparent cause of death was blunt force trauma," police said.

Correa was booked on suspicion of murder, and was being held without bail.
