Superior Industries International Founder Louis Borick dies at 87
Borick built his company into the largest manufacturer of aluminum wheels for passenger cars and light-duty vehicles in North America.

Superior Industries International Inc. today announced the death of the Van Nuys-based automotive component supplier's founding chairman, Louis L. Borick.
The entrepreneur died Monday at the age of 87. The cause of death was not disclosed.
Borick founded the company in 1957 in North Hollywood and had been on its board of directors since 1958, serving as chairman until May 2007. He was chief executive officer of the company until Jan. 1, 2005.

Borick built Superior Industries from a small automotive accessories distributor into the largest manufacturer of aluminum wheels for passenger cars and light-duty vehicles in North America. The company moved to Van Nuys in 1963, according to the Los Angeles Times' obituary for Borick.
From its five plants in the U.S. and Mexico, the company supplies aluminum wheels to the original equipment market. Major customers include Ford, General Motors, Chrysler, BMW, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota and Volkswagen.

Borick is survived by his three children -- Steven, who is chairman, chief executive officer and president of Superior Industries, Robert and Linda - - and two grandchildren.
