Thousands Line Up to See Van Halen Perform on Hollywood Boulevard

Hollywood Boulevard is closed in front of the El Capitan Theatre today to make way for a special concert by Van Halen, which will perform for “Jimmy Kimmel Live” to mark the band’s first U.S. television performance with original lead singer David Lee Roth.

The band, which was founded in Los Angeles in 1974, will embark on a summer/fall concert tour that will begin July 5 in Seattle and conclude Oct. 2 at the Hollywood Bowl, with additional Southern California dates planned in Irvine and San Bernardino in July.

The Hollywood Boulevard concert will be broadcast over two nights on Kimmel’s late night talk show in conjunction with Tuesday’s release of “Tokyo Dome Live in Concert,” billed as Van Halen’s first-ever live album featuring Roth.

Recorded on June 21, 2013, in Tokyo, the CD includes 23 songs spanning all seven of the band’s albums with Roth.

Tickets for the band’s tour will go on sale April 4 at www.ticketmaster.com and www.livenation.com.
