Breaking: Firefighters are investigating the chemical exposure that caused employees at a storage facility in North Hollywood to become ill.

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA -- Firefighters are on the scene in North Hollywood where employees at a storage facility near a near medical lab suffered respiratory distress after being exposed to an unknown chemical, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

At about noon, firefighters were called to the storage facility in the 11600 block of Sherman Way in the North Hollywood area.

The workers are being treated, and there is no threat to the surrounding community, said Los Angeles Fire Department Spokesman Brian Humphrey.
