Football Shocker: Star QB Stewart De-Commits From San Jose State

Breaking story: With national signing day two weeks away, Sierra Canyon's Tyler Stewart has changed his mind about his pledge to San Jose State and has reopened his recruiting.

Tyler Stewart, a star quarterback for Sierra Canyon High who is among California’s top recruits, has de-committed from San Jose State, according to Sierra Canyon coach Jon Ellinghouse—a shocking move considering national signing day is Feb. 1, less than two weeks away.

By changing his mind, Stewart presents a mad scramble, as the 6-foot-4 quarterback who threw for 32 touchdowns in leading Sierra Canyon to a state title is now picking between Hawaii, Nevada, Colorado State, Fresno State and Indiana.

“This is going to have a big impact. I think Tyler is the best of the best,” Ellinghouse said.
