Man Sleeping Under Car Killed When Driver Leaves For Work

The investigation shut down a portion of Reseda Boulevard Tuesday.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — A homeless man who appeared to be sleeping beneath a car was killed Tuesday morning when the vehicle's owner started her car and left for work, according to authorities.

Just after 4 a.m. police and paramedics were called to the scene at North Reseda Boulevard where they found a man underneath the vehicle, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Charles Miller. He was declared dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.

According to, Fox 11, the victim was homeless and had apparently been sleeping under the car when the driver pulled out onto Reseda Boulevard and felt a "thump" as if she had hit something.

The driver of the vehicle, a newer model Mercedes Benz, called for an ambulance and remained at the scene to cooperate with officers.

The investigation was expected to shut down Reseda Boulevard between Mayall and Lassen streets for hours Tuesday morning.
