Man Suspected Of Robbing 3 Valley Banks In 20 Minutes

LOS ANGELES, CA — A 42-year-old parolee at large suspected of robbing three banks in the span of 20 minutes earlier this month in the Woodland Hills area was being held without bail Wednesday.

Patrick Brian Day, described as having "an extensive criminal history," is suspected of being the Ginger Bandit, named because of his reddish brown hair. He was arrested on Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Day is suspected of robbing the three banks on March 5, one at 2:20 p.m. in the 21800 block of Sherman Way, between Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Canoga Avenue, another at 2:30 p.m. in the 22800 block of Victory Boulevard, near Platt Avenue, and the third at 2:40 p.m. in the 22000 block of Ventura Boulevard, near Topanga Canyon Boulevard, police said.

Day allegedly walked into each of the banks, approached employees and gave them a note demanding money. The note also threatened that he had a gun and bomb which he would use if the money wasn't handed over.

Day has prior arrests "for narcotics violations and violent crimes," police said without elaborating.

Day was being held without bail at the Van Nuys Jail, according to sheriff's inmate records.
