Simi Valley Fire: See Sandy Fire Perimeter, Evacuation Orders
The fire, dubbed the Sandy Fire, broke out in Simi Valley at around 10:50 a.m. Monday.
SIMI VALLEY, CA — A wildfire that broke out south of Simi Valley Monday continued to burn a day later as additional residents — including some in Los Angeles County — were told to prepare to evacuate.
The Sandy Fire, burning off Sandy Avenue in Simi Valley, broke out at around 10:50 a.m. Monday, according to Calfire.
"Firefighters are being supported by three air tankers and six helicopters conducting aggressive aerial suppression operations in coordination with ground crews," Calfire said.

By 12:30 p.m., evacuation orders were in place in four areas in Simi Valley, while evacuation warnings were in place in Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks.

By Tuesday morning, the fire had burned more than 1,300 acres and was 5% contained. Evacuation warnings were issued in LA County, including for parts of Chatsworth, Canoga Park, Calabasas, Agoura Hills and Hidden Hills.
