Smash and Grab Robbers Take $20K In Perfume From Northridge Macy's

The dramatic scene involved five or six hammer-wielding men in black hoodies.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — An organized crew of smash and grab robbers hit Macy's department store in Northridge Sunday morning, making off with about $20,000 in expensive cologne and perfume, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The robbery occurred Sunday morning shortly after the store opened. Police received a call at 11:08 a.m. of a robbery involving five to six males at the Northridge Fashion Center in the 930o block of Tampa Avenue, said LAPD Officer Tony Im. The robbers used hammers and bodily force, said Im.

They escaped in a black Infiniti with no license plate last seen headed in an unknown direction, he added.

Video posted on social media showed a dramatic scene with men dressed in black hoodies smashing through display cases. One suspect was putting the perfume into a black trash bag.

The robbery was over in just moments.
