CHATSWORTH, CA — Thieves attempting to tunnel into a Chatsworth jewelry store were thwarted by the shop's owner, who happened to be working in the early morning hours Monday, according to police and KTLA.

Using sledgehammers, they busted through six walls in neighboring Topanga Canyon Plaza shops to get to the jewelry store, KTLA reported. However, once they made it inside, they were scared off by the shop owner. The aborted burglary happened around 2 a.m. at 9927 Topanga Canyon Boulevard, according to police.
