NORTHRIDGE, CA — It’s gone from rain and wind to heat and wind in Northridge this week. The National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard office issued a wind advisory for the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys, and the Santa Monica Mountains that will last until 3 p.m. Thursday.

Air flow from the desert is expected to bring dry, hot winds of up to 91 degrees in Northridge. Winds are expected to reach between 10 and 15 miles an hour. Wind gusts in other San Fernando Valley locations are expected to reach up to 40 miles an hour, according to the National Weather Service. 45 mph winds will gust through the Santa Monica Mountains.

If you thought today was warm, tomorrow will be even warmer! We'll also have a little stronger northeast winds in some areas. Despite and the warmer and drier conditions, relative humidity levels aren't expected to be low enough to create any concerns for fire danger. #cawx pic.twitter.com/X69yHjKkCW — NWS Los Angeles (@NWSLosAngeles) October 27, 2021

Despite the high temperatures and hot winds, higher than usual humidity levels that are partly due to the rain earlier in the week mean that there is no fire danger, according to the NWS.

Residents are advised to be careful when driving, and bring in objects like trash bins and outdoor furniture that could blow away. Outages may occur if tree limbs are broken and damage power lines, National Weather Service Meteorologist Joe Sirard told the Los Angeles Daily News.
