Sutter Health West Bay Region leadership today announced the appointment of a new administrator for Novato Community Hospital (NCH). Health care professional Brian Alexander has been named Chief Administrative Officer, the senior administrative position at NCH, effective July 1, 2013. He will step into the position held by long-time NCH administrator Anne Hosfeld, who is retiring at the end of June.
Alexander, who has served as NCH Assistant Administrator, has been a member of Sutter Health’s West Bay Region management team since2011 and has expertise in strategy and business development as well as hospital operations. He holds a Bachelors of Arts from Northwestern University and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Before joining Sutter Health, Brian worked in managed care contracting and human resources for the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Prior to that, he was a consultant with Health Care Futures in Chicago.
“Brian’s education, past experience and his current operations role at NCH have prepared him well to lead Novato Community Hospital,”reported Grant Davies, CEO of the North Bay Hospitals of Sutter’s West Bay Region. “I have great confidence he will sustain the outstanding strengths of NCH and lead the organization to new levels of performance and service to the community.”

Hosfeld, who has worked for NCH for 34 years, was actively involved when the hospital decided to become part of the Sutter Health network in 1984. She was also instrumental in planning the new NCH that opened in 2001 and the community capital campaign that helped fund it.“It is through Anne’s leadership that NCH established a reputation in the community as an excellent healthcare provider,” stated Davies.
