NOVATO, CA – A suspect was arrested this week in Northern California in connection with a bank robbery that occurred Oct. 5, 2018 at U.S. Bank at 1711 Grant Ave. in Novato, according to authorities.

The Novato Police Department, at the time, released a surveillance image of a male, described as 18 to 22 years old, wearing a teal baseball hat, navy-and-white striped, zip-up sweatshirt and black backpack, who allegedly passed to the bank teller a note demanding money before fleeing in a blue Chevy sedan. No weapon was mentioned or seen, and no one was injured.

Police investigators identified the suspect as Tucker McCarthy, 22, and on Tuesday served a search warrant at his residence in Humboldt County near Eureka, the agency said.

McCarthy was at home at the time and was peacefully taken into custody, police said, adding that the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the arrest.

Evidence recovered during the warrant search reportedly connected McCarthy to the robbery, the department said, noting that along with Humboldt County deputies, the FBI and tips from the public aided in the investigation.
