Bridge Fire Burns 45 Acres On Black Mountain In Marin County
Point Reyes-Petaluma Road is closed at Platform Bridge Road and at Shoreline Highway, officials said.
MARIN COUNTY, CA – A fire sparked Wednesday on Black Mountain, scorching dozens of acres and sending smoke over Marin County. The blaze broke out on the west side of Black Mountain, near the Nicasio Reservoir, according to the Marin County Fire Department.
The blaze, called the Bridge Fire, was reported around 12:45 p.m. By 6 p.m., the fire had burned 45 acres and was 50 percent contained, officials said.

Crews have stopped forward progress of the fire. About 100 firefighters remained on the ground.
No injuries have been reported and no structures have been threatened. There were no evacuation orders, officials said.

Point Reyes-Petaluma Road was closed at Platform Bridge Road and at Shoreline Highway, officials said. Authorities encouraged residents and visitors to stay away from the area and use alternative routes to access Point Reyes Station and Olema.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
Black Mountain, at 1,280 feet, is about two miles north of the community of Nicasio, 10 miles west of downtown Novato and 16 miles northwest of downtown San Rafael.
