Brush Fire Burns 9 Acres In Point Reyes National Seashore
A total of 35 firefighters fought the Pierce Fire on the Tomales peninsula from the ground and aboard helicopters.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — A brush fire burning in Point Reyes National Seashore was 75 percent contained Tuesday morning, fire officials said.
The blaze, called the Pierce Fire, broke out around 3 p.m. Monday between Tomales Point and White Gulch, according to the Marin County Fire Department.
A total of 35 firefighters fought the flames from the ground and aboard helicopters. The blaze started on a hill and burned down toward the beach, according to Marin County Fire. The fire on the Tomales peninsula scorched 9 acres and was 75 percent contained as of 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.
Fifteen firefighters, including an Inverness fire engine company and the 12-member Tam Crew, were expected to remain at the scene Tuesday to put out hot spots, according to Marin County Fire.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
