Child Porn Found On 2 Bay Area Registered Sex Offenders: Police

Police conducted checks on registered sex offenders homes to make sure they were in compliance.

NOVATO, CA — Officers discovered two Novato registered sex offenders Wednesday that were each in possession of suspected child pornography, police said.

On Wednesday, the Novato Police Department contacted Remsen Benedict, 70, and Brian Moylan, 68, after conducting compliance checks on the registered sex offenders, police said.

“People convicted of certain sexual offenses are required to register personal information, including their address, with local law enforcement. Failure to register can lead to arrest,” police said.

Detectives said they did a compliance check at Benedict’s residence on Spinosa Way and while there found he had an active federal warrant, which violated his probation, and they located a thumb drive in his room that contained suspected child pornography.

Later that day, detectives said they did another compliance check at Moylan’s residence on Santa Maria Drive and found his laptop contained suspected child pornography.
