Driver With Open Beer Arrested For Suspected DUI: CHP
Officers said the open Corona was in a cup holder and a 12-pack was on the car's floor board when the man was stopped for expired tags.
MARIN COUNTY, CA – A motorist was arrested on multiple charges Monday morning in Marin County after he was stopped for reportedly expired registration tabs by a California Highway Patrol officer, who then spotted an open beer in the car's cup holder and a 12-pack of Corona on the passenger floor board, according to the agency.
A check of the man's driver license showed it to be suspended due to a prior driving-under-the-influence conviction, for which the motorist was on probation and in violation as the car lacked a required ignition-interlock device, the CHP said.
The male showed signs of intoxication, failed a field-sobriety test and was arrested for suspicion of DUI, officers said, noting that the vehicle's registration tabs – the original cause for the stop – were expired for well more than a year.
