“Elsa and Fred” is the story of two people who near the end of their roads, discover that it’s never too late to love and make dreams come true. Retired 77-year-old hypochondriac widower, Fred, moves to an apartment in Madrid, and eventually meets his next door neighbor, Elsa, an elderly and feisty Argentinean, whose behavior is unorthodox, to say the least. Nevertheless, after some rocky fits and starts, Fred is seduced by Elsa’s outrageous behavior and upbeat view of life. Poignant and funny, with brilliant acting, the film is a Spanish-Argentine film co-production directed by Marcos Carnevale and shot in Madrid.
The International Film Showcase seeks out extraordinary movies not made available to the general public (some will never be available to rent or download) and holds screenings for these feature films at least seven days each month in community theaters throughout the Bay Area. The Novato Theater Film Club is honored to partner with IFS in our community for these extraordinary opportunities.
