Celebrate National Gymnastics Day with the Novato Gymnastics Team as it hosts its annual Fall Classic on Sept.  17 at the Novato Gymnastics Center. More than 200 athletes will compete in this regular season competition throughout the day.

1996 Olympic Gold Medalist Kerri Strug to scheduled to make a special appearance at the Fall Classic as part of a promotion for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in gymnastics, which will be held in San Jose.  Strug is well known for her dramatic vault on an injured ankle at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, which helped the U.S. win the Team Gold Medal, and put her on the front of the Wheaties cereal box.

Strug is scheduled to arrive at 9:30 a.m. and will only be able to stay for about 45 minutes, as she has several other stops in the Bay Area.

Novato Gymnastics was selected for Kerri's visit because of its involvement in the club ticket sales program as well as Coach Perry Siu's involvement on the Local Organizing Committee for the Olympic Trials.

The Novato Gymnastics Team will have a total of 19 gymnasts competing. Come check out the Fall Classic as these gymnasts try to "stick" their routines!  Check www.novatogymnastics.org for times, admission, and other updates.
