Free Gun-Safety Locks Available For Novato Residents
The kits are being made available to residents through Project ChildSafe, a nationwide firearms safety education program.

NOVATO, CA – In an effort to promote gun safety, the Novato Police Department is giving free firearm safety kits to residents. The kits come with safety curriculum and a cable-style gun lock that fits most handguns, rifles and shotguns.
"This is an important reminder that safe firearms practices and storage should be practiced all year long, so we can reduce the number of accidents and create a safer environment for our community," Novato police Chief Adam McGill said in a statement.
The kits are being made available to residents through Project ChildSafe, a nationwide firearms safety education program developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation and supported by the U.S. Department of Justice. The program distributes safety kits to all 50 states and five U.S. territories.
