Bay Area's Buck Institute for Research on Aging develops AI safety system (mercurynews.com) — Novato's Buck Institute for Research on Aging is developing a new AI safety system, OASIS, to keep powerful biological research tools from being misused, and is fundraising about $1 million to build a prototype. Researchers in Novato are already using AI to create "digital twins" of microbes and people, aiming to speed drug discovery and personalize health monitoring while guarding against bioweapon risks.
   

2. In Your Town for Sept. 25, 2026 (marinij.com) — Novato residents may have seen police activity overnight after a driver allegedly ran a red light on San Marin Drive and led officers on a high-speed chase up Highway 101 into Sonoma County.
