Gas Leak Shuts Down Novato Area

NOVATO, CA – A gas leak shut down the area of Olive Avenue and Chase Street in Novato Wednesday, the Novato Police Department said.

Chase Street was shut down at Railroad Avenue for emergency services responding to the leak.

Police said there was no threat to the public at the time, but people were advised to stay away from the area.

PG&E spokeswoman Deanna Contreras said a third-party construction crew accidentally hit a gas line in the middle of the intersection around 2 p.m.
