Gas Stolen From Novato Unified School District Bus Yard

PHOTOS: Police seek two people suspected of stealing gasoline Wednesday night from the bus yard located on Olive Avenue, officials said.

NOVATO, CA – Police are seeking two people suspected of stealing gasoline Wednesday night from a Novato Unified School District bus yard late, officials said.

According to the Novato Police Department, the incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. at the bus yard located on Olive Avenue in Novato. A custodian who works at the yard saw a man and woman using a hose to siphon gas from the underground storage tanks that are used to fill school buses into a white Ford Econoline or similar box truck.

The equipment that was used to siphon the gas indicates that the truck was equipped with a large storage container capable of holding hundreds of gallons of gasoline, police said.

The suspects fled the scene before officers arrived, but not before the custodian was able to take photographs with his cell phone.

According to police, the suspect driving the vehicle is described as a Hispanic man in his 30s, bald with a medium build. The passenger in the vehicle is described as a white female, blond and heavy set, police said.

The box truck had a California license plate with the number 7BQK347, though police suspect the plates could be stolen.

According to police, the vehicle also had "AUTOMATIC A/C SEATS 3" written on the passenger side door. The door also had a California weight sticker with the number "15" and "UNDER 14,050 GROSS" written underneath.
