MarinMOCA on display at Marin Civic Center

The exhibition titled "The View from Marin: Artwork by Members of Marin Museum of Contemporary Art" displays artwork from 60 artists.

This September, the artists of Marin Museum of Contemporary Art will be mounting a large exhibition at the Marin Civic Center. The exhibition titled “The View from Marin: Artwork by Members of Marin Museum of Contemporary Art” displays a variety of artwork from 60 of MarinMOCA’s member artists.

MarinMOCA Executive Director Heidi LaGrasta states, “We are so glad to be able to share our member’s artwork at this incredible venue and historic building. Our members come from many communities around Marin, and this is a great way to celebrate the unique perspectives each of them brings to their art practice. MarinMOCA values the connecting point of art, the community and artistic expression and this exhibit is only one of the many ways this happens.” MarinMOCA has over 150 Member Artists, all of which are practicing studio artists living in the Bay Area. Artist Members who join the MarinMOCA community strengthen MarinMOCA’s programs and exhibitions, connect with fellow artists, and enjoy reciprocal membership at neighboring museums.

The MarinMOCA members’ work on display for this exhibition encompasses a wide variety of subject matter and techniques. One piece on display is member Gary Marsh’s sculpture, Support, made of clay, steel, paint, screws and wax. His piece is a trio of organic forms reminiscent of figures. Marsh studies different forms, both natural and man-made, to create his enigmatic work.
