Novato Named Among Top 50 Safest Cities In CA: Report

NOVATO, CA – Novato ranks among the top 50 safest cities in the state of California, according to SafeWise, an online safety resource, which analyzed the Golden State to find the 50 safest.

For perspective, the state has a total of 482 municipalities. Novato came in at No. 50.

To compile this report, SafeWise analysts reviewed the most recent 2017 FBI crime statistics and census population data. The evaluation is based on the number of reported violent crimes in each city per 1,000 people. If there was a tie, they also factored in the number of property crimes including burglary, and car theft. Cities that fell below identified population thresholds or failed to submit a complete FBI crime report were excluded from the ranking system.

According to the SafeWise analysis, there are 56,698 residents living in Novato, with 1.62 violent crimes per 1,000 people, and 16.35 property crimes per 1,000 people.
