• San Rafael property transfer tax hike heads to voters (marinij.com) — San Rafael voters are being asked to approve Measure W, a big increase to the city's property transfer tax to shore up services like fire protection, 911 response and road repairs. For Novato residents, the debate highlights how differently cities fund services, with Novato keeping just 7% of property tax revenue compared with San Rafael's 12.2% and Mill Valley's 25.8%.
   

• Marin County education board fills vacant seat (marinij.com) — Marin's Board of Education has appointed Mario Lopez to fill a San Rafael-area seat through 2028, a move that could still be overturned if residents force a special election.
