Looking for something fun to do? Check out these great events going on Thursday-Sunday in or around Novato

On Friday, get your dose of Johnny Cash with Rusty Evans and the Ring of Fire at Novato’s Hopmonk Tavern in the Vintage Oaks Shopping Center.

Evans, a Brooklyn native, got his start as a rockabilly musician in the ‘50s and later became a staple of the Greenwich Village folk circuit, sharing stages with Bob Dylan, David Crosby, and Fred Neil. He moved to Los Angeles, working as a staff producer for a music label, then produced a new psych-rock album titled “Marcus,” his birth name. Show is 21+ and starts at 8:30pm. Tickets $8.

On Saturday, drive out to Nicasio to hear Asleep at the Wheel at Rancho Nicasio starting 8:30pm. The Austin-based band has won nine Grammy awards and is known for their heart-felt country ballads and danceable tunes. The group returns to Rancho Nicasio on Sunday for a 4pm show. All ages show. Tickets $40
