Severe Damage Reported In Fire At Petaluma Home
The fire at a two-story home was reported at about 6:30 a.m. Sunday.
PETALUMA, CA — A two-story Petaluma home was severely damaged by a fire early Sunday morning, according to the city's Fire Department. The blaze in the 300 block of Wilson Street, near Jefferson and Lakeville streets, was reported at about 6:30 a.m., Battalion Chief Mike Medeiros said.
All the city's on-duty fire crews, as well as auto-aid crews from Rancho Adobe Fire, were dispatched to the scene and arrived to find heavy fire coming from the back of the home. The first arriving engine company was met with flames that had extended into both floors of the home, with firefighters experiencing "high heat and zero visibility" at the front door, the battalion chief said.
"The incident was upgraded to a 'working fire' which added the Cal-Fire engine and cover units for the City while Petaluma units were committed," Medeiros said.
