Tomales Fire Station Replacement Project Moves Forward
The California Coastal Commission approved a permit for the West Marin fire station project.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – A proposed project to remove and replace the 47-year-old Tomales Fire Station has moved a step closer to realization after gaining approval from the California Coastal Commission, county officials said.
The fire station is located in Tomales, a census-designated place on Dillon Beach Road in Marin County, and is under the jurisdiction of Marin County Fire.
The project will next go before the Marin County Board of Supervisors in July for final approval before being released to bid, according to county officials. In the meantime, the project's technical details and drawings are being refined.

The preliminary estimate for costs is $8.7 million but the construction cost aspect will not be finalized until contractor bids are received, county officials said.
Construction is estimated to take a year and fire services will remain fully functional in a temporary facility.
