• Defense powers Oakdale over Sonora in season opener (oakdaleleader.com) — Oakdale High's Mustangs opened their football season with a strong defensive win over rival Sonora, forcing four turnovers and allowing just 28 passing yards. Star back Andres Ruiz broke loose for two long touchdowns, and Oakdale now turns its attention to hosting Lincoln of Stockton at home this Friday night, with JV and varsity games scheduled.
