2 Rescued After Sailboat Overturns In Oceanside Harbor
Rescue operations took place in an area impacted by strong currents and hazardous surf conditions near the jetty.
OCEANSIDE, CA — Two people were rescued after a sailboat capsized near the entrance of the Oceanside Harbor, authorities said.
Lifeguards and fire personnel responded shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday to reports of an overturned sailboat up against the jetty at 1400 N. Pacific St., according to the Oceanside Fire Department.
Lifeguards aboard a Marine Safety Unit boat began rescue operations in an area impacted by strong currents and hazardous surf conditions near the jetty. Both victims were brought safely aboard the lifeguard vessel and taken back to the dock for evaluation.

One person was taken to a hospital in stable condition, while the other was evaluated at the scene and did not require further treatment.
The rescue involved 11 fire personnel, five lifeguards and assistance from the Oceanside Police Department. No other injuries were reported.

Officials said the damaged sailboat was later recovered by a commercial vessel assistance company.
