Concerts, Brewfest and Supergirls Surf Into the Weekend

You made it to the weekend, now what? Patch found your weekend events happening Aug. 2-4.

August is officially here! Kick off the last full month of summer with fun events in North County.

Put on your dancing shoes at a concert in Carlsbad or enjoy a nice cold beer in Encinitas. Head to the water and check out female surfers hit the waves in Oceanside.

FORD SUPERGIRL PRO

  • What's Up: The largest female surfing event in the world will be in Oceanside. The three-day event will host 96 professional female surfers from all over the world. 
  • When: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2 & Saturday, Aug. 3; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4. 
  • Where: Oceanside Pier, Oceanside. 
  • Price: Free. 
TGIF JAZZ IN THE PARKS
  • What's Up: Bring your dancing shoes and head over to the park! The concert will feature the zydeco band, The Bayou Brothers for an evening of music and fun. 
  • When: 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2. 
  • Where: Poinsettia Park, 6600 Hidden Valley Rd., Carlsbad.
  • Price: Free. 
 JAPAN FESTIVAL
  • What's Up: Did you know Encinitas' sister city is Amakusa, Japan? The festival will feature cultural performances, sushi, snacks, origami, prize raffle, Japanese book giveaway and more.
  • When: 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3.
  • Where: Encinitas Library, 540 Cornish Dr., Encinitas
  • Price: Free. 
BREWFEST ENCINITAS
  • What's Up:  Encinitas Coastal Rotary Club will host BrewFest Encinitas featuring 15 craft breweries, food vendors and more. All of the proceeds will benefit local and global charities. 
  • When: 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3. 
  • Where: MiraCosta College, 3333 Manchester Ave., Cardiff. 
  • Price: $40-$75; VIP designated driver $25. 
HERITAGE PARK SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
  • What's Up: The summer concert series will present the country and fold band, Lemon Grove Trio. 
  • When: 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4. 
  • Where: Heritage Park, 220 Peyri Dr., Oceanside.
  • Price: Free.
