Here are the top five stories in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton today:

  1. Oceanside Mayor Esther Sanchez shares her 2022 priorities to address crime, homelessness, beach erosion, controlling development & tourism. "We need to control development and maintain the character of Oceanside. We need to ensure new housing is truly affordable." said Mayor Sanchez. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
  2. The indoor mask mandate established by the California Department of Public Health nearly two months ago will expire Feb. 15. Well-fitted masks will still be required indoors for people who are not fully vaccinated. Masks will still be required in schools and in certain settings regardless of vaccination status.   3. Four San Diego area restaurants have been named among the most romantic restaurants in the country — just in time for Valentine's Day. With the romantic holiday just days away, restaurant reservation company OpenTable released its "100 Most Romantic Restaurants in America" list this week. The company analyzed more than 12.4 million diner reviews to curate the list, which includes one restaurant in Cardiff, one in Carlsbad and two in San Diego. (San Diego Patch)
  4. Homes in California became slightly more affordable in the fourth quarter of 2021 thanks to rising incomes and slowing price growth, the state's Realtors announced Thursday.
    Affordability in San Diego County averaged at 26%, and homes in nearby Riverside County were far more affordable at 39%. (Times of San Diego)
  5. An annual joint exercise involving the Marine Corps and the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force proved an opportunity for the U.S. service to prepare its newest amphibious vehicle for a planned deployment later this year, commanders said Wednesday at Camp Pendleton.
    The exercise marks the first waterborne operations of the Marine Corps' new Amphibious Combat Vehicle in a named exercise. (The San Diego Union-Tribune)
