Here are the top five stories in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton today:

  1. KOCT Television invites the community to attend the 15th Annual KOCT Outback Steakhouse Fundraiser on Thursday, May 12. Tickets are $25 per person and include a Blooming Onion at every table plus a choice of Steak, Pork Chop or Salmon as the main entree. There are two seating times available at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
  2. SD County Crime Log: A collection of this week's police, fire and courtroom stories from across San Diego County. Douglas Payne, 51, of Carlsbad, is accused of hitting a 65-year-old victim on southbound Interstate 5, north of Cannon Road. Rogelio Ramirez, 22, was booked into county jail on suspicion of intentionally sparking six fires in Vista and Oceanside. (Carlsbad Patch)
  3. The Oceanside Fire Department will be conducting wildland training burns starting May 10 and continuing for several days through the end of May. All of the burns will be north of Highway 76. In the event that a citizen sees a fire with no fire department personnel present or one that is south of Highway 76, they are asked to call 911 immediately. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
  4.   5. Like most kids born in Canada, Jillian McLaughlin could skate about the same time she could walk. "My mom put me in figure skating when I was two or three," Jillian told FOX 5. "And Jillian stayed in, even after she moved from her first home outside Ottawa, Quebec, Canada to Oceanside at age 8. The minor detail that water doesn't freeze in Southern California very often didn't mean she would get frozen out of the game she loves. With no girls team to join, Jillian stepped in with the boys and played with the Jr. Gulls and fit right in.(FOX 5 San Diego)
