Here are the top five stories today in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton:

  1. Oceanside is urging residents to reduce water use in response to the State Water Board's Emergency Drought Resolution. "The Water Utilities Department is complying with state regulations as the drought progresses," said Rosemarie Chora, Oceanside Water Utilities Division Manager. "As summer approaches, we ask residents and businesses to do their part and be mindful of water usage." Oceanside is recommending reducing irrigation to three times a week between 6 p.m. and 10 a.m., keeping sprinkler irrigation to 10 minutes per station and fixing leaks within 72 hours. (FOX 5 San Diego)
  2. Oceanside historian Kristi Hawthorne highlights the history of the famed "Top Gun" house from its beginnings as The Graves house. In 1886, Dr. Henry Graves of Riverside came to Oceanside and while here bought a portion of a lot on North Pacific Street for just $1. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
  3. For the second time, an Oceanside man is behind bars, accused of impersonating a peace officer. According to investigators with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, 21-year-old Michael Carmichael was spotted performing a traffic stop on a woman just before 2 a.m. on Monday in Fallbrook, allegedly employing emergency strobe lights in the ruse. Officials said that what started out as a fellow deputy trying to assist on a traffic stop ended with a pursuit, a fiery crash and the discovery of Carmichael's masquerade. (NBC San Diego)
  4. The American Red Cross will give a lucky blood donor the chance to live like Elvis Presley with a three-night trip to Memphis, Tennessee. Anyone who donates blood, platelets or plasma during June will be automatically entered to win a three-night stay at The Guest House at Graceland, an Elvis-themed hotel next door to Presley's Memphis home. Red Cross blood drives are being held across San Diego County, including Oceanside. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)
  5. SeaWorld San Diego's Bayside Amphitheater is scheduled to reopen Saturday with concerts slated throughout the summer. The Electric Ocean Summer Concert Series kicks off Saturday with the classic rock music of Asia featuring John Payne at the outdoor venue overlooking Mission Bay. Country artist David Nail is scheduled June 25, followed by Canadian country singer MacKenzie Porter on July 23, R&B singer Ashanti on July 30, and Micky Dolenz of The Monkees on Aug. 13.
