OCEANSIDE, CA — April is stacking up to be an event-filled month in Oceanside. Here are some of the favorite happenings coming up this month.
Kicking off the month is one of the biggest sporting events of the year. IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside gets underway on Thursday and culminates on Saturday when thousands will challenge themselves on the 21st anniversary of the popular competition.

IRONMAN Night at the Oceanside Sunset Market Street Fair.
The Sunset Market welcomes IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside on March 31. Grab a bite under the lights at San Diego County's top weekly food and music market from 5-9 p.m. Enjoy international eats, live music, gourmet goodies and eclectic shopping every Thursday in Downtown Oceanside. Located on Pier View Way west of Coast Highway, this free, family-friendly event also features Dorothy’s KidZone with children’s activities. IRONKIDS Oceanside Fun Run at the Oceanside Pier
The IRONKIDS Fun Run offers young athletes the opportunity to feel the excitement of “competition”, without the pressure of a competitive race. At IRONKIDS it’s all about the fun! Run distances are based on the children’s age and interest. Ages 1-17 are encouraged to participate. Participants will receive a race bib, medal, bag and the pride of calling themselves an IRONKID! The IRONKIDS Oceanside Fun Run supports the Oceanside Parks and Recreation Youth Scholarship program.
First Friday Art Walk
First Friday Oceanside Art Walk is back in action April 1! Celebrate the thriving arts and culture scene in the heart of downtown Oceanside, one of only 14 designated California Cultural Districts. From 5-9 p.m. enjoy arts, jewelry, pottery, crafts, live music and more from local artists. This free, family-friendly event is produced by Oceanside Friends of the Arts in support of arts-related activities.

IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside
Athletes from around the world travel to Oceanside for the IRONMAN 70.3. The course consists of the following: a 1.2-mile swim in the Pacific Ocean, a 56-mile bike loop through Camp Pendleton, and a 13.1-mile run along the coastal community in Oceanside. Everyone is welcome to cheer on the athletes as they complete this intense course. The all-day event starts at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Annual Easter Egg Hunt
10 a.m. - 1 p.m at Mance Buchanon Park Soccer Fields, 425 College Blvd., Oceanside, CA
The annual City of Oceanside Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, April 16th. The hunt will begin promptly at 10 a.m. and is free for children ages 3-11. There will be lots of candy, prizes, entertainment, and of course, a special guest appearance by the Easter Bunny. Bring your own egg basket or bag. The public is invited to this free event. Free parking is available.

A co-production by New Village Arts and Oceanside Theatre Company, this Stephen Sondheim musical brings well-known fairytale characters to musical life. Interwoven through their tales is the story of a baker and his wife, whose longing for a child is thwarted by a mischievous witch. Previewing through Friday and opening Saturday, "Into the Woods” will transform the Oceanside Theatre Company’s stage into a magic land where almost anything can and does happen
