
CAMP PENDLETON, CA – A brush fire sparked Thursday on Camp Pendleton, burning dozens of acres and sending smoke into the air. The blaze broke out in the 53 area of the military base.
Firefighters from Camp Pendleton and the Orange County Fire Authority battled the flames. The OCFA sent a brush engine, helicopter and battalion chief to assist with the firefighting efforts.
The fire was 30 percent contained by 4:45 p.m., officials said. Basilone Road remained closed in the area.

The fire has grown to roughly 60 acres and is at 30% containment. Basil one road is still closed.
