• San Diego cops bust wild street racers in massive arrest sweep (nypost.com) — CHP Oceanside is stepping up enforcement against illegal street racing and reckless driving on freeways and roads in and around Oceanside. Newly released body camera footage shows officers stopping suspected racers, warning that arrests, citations, and vehicle impounds await drivers who treat local streets like a racetrack, especially during busy summer nights. 
• Suspect Arrested in Shooting – Vista Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR) Prove Crucial (northcountydailystar.com) — An Oceanside teen has been arrested after license plate reader technology helped investigators track down a vehicle tied to a Vista drive-by shooting that injured a restaurant patron. Working with Oceanside Police, deputies found the Oceanside resident with an un-serialized firearm, and the juvenile is now in county juvenile hall as the investigation continues.
• Pet of the week: Friendly, talkative Beagle mix (sandiegouniontribune.com) — If you're looking to adopt, a chatty 5-year-old Beagle mix named Benito is available through the San Diego Humane Society, with August adoption fees discounted. Oceanside residents can visit the society's North Campus on San Luis Rey Road or other nearby shelters to meet Benito or browse many other pets. Check online first, as Benito may already be adopted.
