22 Die Of Coronavirus In Orange County, Wednesday

A total of 911 more residents tested positive for coronavirus, Wednesday, raising the number of positive cases to 27,000 & 455 total deaths.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — On Wednesday, the Orange County Health Care Agency Tuesday reported 22 more residents have perished from coronavirus, bringing the death toll to 455.

A total of 911 more residents tested positive for coronavirus, Wednesday, raising the number of positive cases in Orange County to 27,031.

One of the deaths reported on Wednesday were skilled nursing facility resident. The remaining 21 people who died were not living in a nursing care facility, according to Orange County Health Care Agency.

Of those who have died of coronavirus:

  • 0-17 years old: 0
  • 18-24 years old: 1
  • 25-34 years old: 7
  • 35-44 years old: 12
  • 45-54 years old: 38
  • 55-64 years old: 58
  • 65-74 years old: 80
  • 75-84 years old: 117
  • 85 years old and over: 142

Also on Wednesday, the number of hospitalized patients increased from 712 on Tuesday to 722, and the number of patients in intensive care rose from 237 to 238.

Of the 27,031 cases of coronavirus in the county, 1,361 were skilled nursing home facility residents. As of Wednesday, 216 skilled nursing home residents have died, and 16 the fatalities were assisted living facility residents.

Two homeless residents of Orange County have died as a result of coronavirus.

The county has reported administering 329,001 coronavirus tests and an estimated 11,611 have recovered since the pandemic began.

The rate of residents testing positive for COVID-19 dipped from 14.6% to 14.1%, but is still much higher than the state's desired rate of 8%.

The three-day average of hospitalized patients jumped from 1.3% on Tuesday to 4.5%, but it is still lower than the state's threshold of 10%.

Also, the county has 38.6% of its intensive care unit beds available, more than the state's threshold of at least 20% to handle a surge.

The county also has 63.9% of its ventilators available, more than double the 25% minimum expected by the state.

On Wednesday, a Coronavirus Testing Supersite Opened In Anaheim at the Anaheim Convention Center. The large-scale site, operating at the Anaheim Convention Center, hopes to test 1,200 people a day.
