Orange County Coronavirus Counts Increase: 1,376 Cases, 22 Deaths
Over 1,300 residents of Orange County are infected with the coronavirus. OC Health Care reports 22 have perished as a result of the illness.
ORANGE COUNTY, CA — After days of low coronavirus case counts, on Wednesday, the Orange County Health Care Agency reported 87 new cases. Three more residents died as a result of the virus, they said, raising the total of those who lost their lives to the illness to 22.
The number of COVID-19 cases grew to 1,376 across the county. The number of hospitalized patients decreased to 104, and the number of those in intensive care dropped to 45 on Wednesday, Orange County Health Care Agency officials said. All 24 area hospitals reported in with data on Wednesday.
There have been 15,305 residents tested for the virus, and there are currently enough kits to test 2,508 more specimens.

Since Tuesday, 328 more people received tests for the disease.

- 25 people are under 18 years old;
- 109 people are between 18-24;
- 232 people are between 25-34;
- 200 people are between 35-44;
- 542 people are between 45-64;
- 268 people are 65 or older.
Men make up over half of the county's cases, and over half of those who have succumbed to COVID-19.
Of the deaths:
- 2 were 25 to 34 years old,
- 1 was 35 to 44,
- 7 were 45 to 64,
- 12 were 65 or older.
Of the deceased, 12 were men and 10 were women, OC Health Care reported.
The newly collected data of ethnicity shows that of those who have died in Orange County:
- 9 were Asian
- 5 were white
- 5 were Latino
- 1 was black or African American
- 2 were not classified
Anaheim has the most COVID-19 cases in the county with 156, followed by Santa Ana with 134 and Irvine with 105. Huntington Beach has 92, but Newport Beach is close behind with 90.
The Orange County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution amplifying a recommendation from Orange County's chief health officer, Dr. Nichole Quick, "strongly encouraging" face coverings for workers at essential businesses that remain open during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Face coverings are an additional tool that may help protect staff and patrons from COVID-19, but they are not a substitute for proven protective measures like frequent hand washing, keeping your hands away from your face, practicing social distancing and staying home, according to Quick.

- Dana Point: 12 cases (no increase)
- Fountain Valley: 20 cases (no increase)
- Fullerton: 42 cases
- Garden Grove: 42 cases
- Huntington Beach: 92 cases
- Irvine: 105 cases
- La Habra: 31 cases
- La Palma: 12 cases
- Ladera Ranch: 9 cases (no increase)
- Laguna Beach: 36 cases (decrease of 1)
- Laguna Hills: 13 cases (no increase)
- Laguna Niguel: 29 cases
- Laguna Woods: 7 cases (no increase)
- Lake Forest: 25 cases
- Mission Viejo: 36 cases
- Newport Beach: 90 cases
- Orange: 52 cases
- Placentia: 31
- Rancho Mission Viejo: 5 cases

- Tustin: 28 cases (decrease of 2)
- Villa Park: 6 cases
- Westminster: 24 cases
- Yorba Linda: 40 cases
- OTHER: 5 cases -- (includes unincorporated areas of the county and cities with under 25,000 residents and under 5 cases of coronavirus reported)
