CA Police Fatally Shoot Man During U.S. Open Surf Contest
An armed and "non-compliant" man was fatally shot near the pier in Huntington Beach on Saturday.
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — A man was fatally shot near where the U.S. Open of Surfing contest took place in Orange County Saturday afternoon, according to multiple reports.
At 3:15 p.m., officials found a man who was armed and was "non-compliant" in the sand, south of the pier in Huntington Beach, the Huntington Beach Police Department reported.
Police gave the man multiple commands before they opened fire, officials said. Lifesaving measures were provided before he was transported to a local hospital.

He was pronounced dead in an Orange County Saturday afternoon, police said.
The Huntington Beach Police Department has handed the investigation off to the Orange County Sheriff's Department and was urging the public to contact the station at 1-855-847-6227 if anyone had any information on the incident.
