Coronavirus Testing In Orange County Tops 30K As Of Thursday

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — One more person has died in Orange County, Thursday, bringing the coronavirus death toll to 45, according to the Orange County Health Care Agency's recent report. Of the 3.2 million Orange County residents, 31,534 have been tested for COVID-19, a number that increased by over 1,500 on Thursday.

The Health Care Agency reported the county's coronavirus cases increased by 145, to a total of 2,393 people in Orange County who have tested positive for the virus.

The number of hospitalized patients increased from 157 on Monday to 190 on Thursday, with the number of intensive care patients at 63, according to the Orange County Health Care Agency.

Of those infected with the virus, men outweigh women with 53 percent infected with the virus.

A total of 28 men and 17 women have died as a result of the COVID-19 disease.

Of the county's total cases:

• 45 are under 18 years old
• 204 are between 18-24
• 403 are between 25-34
• 362 are between 35-44
• 454 are between 45-54
• 415 are between 55-64
• 253 are between 65-74
• 157 are between 75- 84
• 100 are 85 and older

Of the deaths:

• 2 were 25 to 34 years old
• 3 were 35 to 44
• 5 were 45-54
• 7 were 55-64
• 5 were 65-74
• 15 were 75-84
• 8 were 85 or older.

The four biggest cities in Orange County account for the largest number of positive cases, according to Orange County Health Care Agency's most recent report.

Santa Ana has the most cases with 366, followed by Anaheim at 346, Huntington Beach at 223, and Irvine at 130.

Orange County residents are seeking to help one another during the time with so many out of work. A pop up food pantry was planned for early May in Mission Viejo.

Despite restrictions designed to slow the spread of the virus, crowds flocked to Orange County beaches over the weekend as temperatures rose to summer-like levels, which drew criticism from Gov. Gavin Newsom at the beginning of the week. On Thursday, he gave orders to close down only Orange County beaches until further notice.
