Dog Rescued, Mess Mopped By OC Firefighters After House Fire

Orange County firefighters went above and beyond when they were called to a house fire in Garden Grove Thursday.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Orange County firefighters knocked down a house fire, performed a dog rescue and mopped up a mess in Garden Grove Thursday, authorities said.

Firefighters with the Orange County Fire Authority were called to the house fire in the 9200 block of Bixby Avenue after neighbors reported seeing smoke at 3:15 p.m., an OCFA statement said.

Firefighters rescued a dog that was in the house before extinguishing the fire — but the firefighters didn't stop there.

"As a team, firefighters used push broom, squeegees and mops to remove water inside the home," an OCFA spokesperson said. "We are happy to report no injuries to the dog and no injuries to any residents or firefighters."

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
