He Stabbed Three Marines, Now He's Off To Prison

Alexis Moreno Aguirre was sentenced to four years in prison for his part in stabbing several marines in San Clemente in August, 2018.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A 24-year-old Dana Point resident was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to fighting with and stabbing three United States Marines during a fight in San Clemente in August, 2018.

Alexis Moreno Aguirre admitted guilt to two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon, according to court records. A third felony count of assault with a deadly weapon was dropped along with sentencing enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury on the victims.

The confrontation occurred just after 1 a.m. Aug. 4 in the parking lot of a bar in the 200 block of El Camino Real, according to Carrie Braun of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

The three male Marines, two of whom were 21 years old and the other 23 at the time, were taken by ambulance to an area hospital.

"One of the victims sustained a wound to the stomach, another was injured in his stomach and throat and a third suffered stomach and shoulder injuries," according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

Aguirre was arrested at a hospital in Laguna Beach, where he went to get treated for injuries from the fight, prosecutors said. The cause of the fight was not made clear.
