OC Police Dog Dies Following Battle With Cancer

SANTA ANA, CA — An Orange County police dog has died after serving the Santa Ana Police Department for six faithful years.

The Santa Ana Police Department announced the passing of K-9 Aslan Tuesday evening after the police dog lost his battle against cancer.

Aslan worked alongside SAPD Corporal S. Martinez while serving as the only certified firearm detection K-9 at the police department.

In 2018, KTLA reported that Aslan was credited in the seizure of 10,000 rounds of ammo, guns and body armor from a home in Santa Ana.

"Our deepest condolences go out to Corporal Martinez and his family," police said. "Rest in peace, Aslan. Your K-9 partners will take it from here."
