Event Details
Join the Degrowth California and North American Center for Post-Growth Research (PGR) for a special screening of The Cost of Growth, followed by a critical dialogue on degrowth, California's growth myths, and building cross-continental solidarities. This event is part of a set of film screenings and dialogues across the state of California uncovering the hidden costs of an economy based on extraction and exponential growth and exploring what alternative economic and social systems we could build to ensure a flourishing life for all.
The Cost of Growth explores critical questions about our current economic mode such as: Who truly pays for growth? How is growth defended? How do we move beyond?
The screening will be followed by interactive activities with audience members to learn their perspectives and points of view and facilitate greater dialogue. Additionally, a Q&A panel will feature:
-Degrowth California, local organizers from California's emerging degrowth movement
-PGR comrades, perspectives on post-growth research and presenting a proposal for a Post-growth Deal - A roadmap for an eco-socialist transition
-Comrades from Spain, Research & Degrowth International, connecting European struggles to California's context
